Jeffory Eaton, DDS ’83 : From music to dentistry

If you visit the private practice of Jeffory Eaton, DDS ’83, you might wonder about the name, Dentistry and All That Jazz. 

But the name makes sense when you know that prior to dental school Jeff worked as a professional musician in Las Vegas, performing with musicians like the Righteous Brothers, Lou Rawls, Dionne Warwick, and Carlos Santana.  

In 2015 Jeff was appointed Faculty Director of the UCSF School of Dentistry’s Community Dental Clinic following the retirement of its founder Steve Silverstein, DMD. He has served as a volunteer faculty member at the clinic since 1994. 

A participant in numerous dental missions outside of the country, Jeff was named Volunteer Faculty of the Year by the Dean’s Office in 1995 and by the students in 1995, 2001, and 2012 for his work with the homeless program. 

More recently, he received the 2017 Medal of Honor from UCSF Dental Alumni Association.
