Meet the Team
Executive Director of Alumni Relations
Mario Peraza is the Executive Director of Alumni Relations. In this role Mario guides the vision and direction for the alumni programming and engagement of the over 60,000 living alumni, and provides leadership and support for the Alumni Association of UCSF. He also serves as the liaison between alumni relations and various campus partners. Mario leads a team of professional staff and alumni volunteers that together leverage and expand alumni relationships, connections, and networks across all areas of health care. Mario completed his B.S. degree in Chemistry at the University of Illinois and his M.Ed. degree in Higher Education Administration at the University of Maryland College Park. Prior to joining UCSF, Mario was the Director of Alumni Volunteer programs at the University of Maryland working with over 100 alumni volunteers nationwide.
Senior Director of Alumni Relations
Katie Maloney is the Senior Director of Alumni Relations. She works with the School of Medicine and coordinates department operations. Prior to joining UCSF, Katie spent eight years at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology overseeing the Parents Association and Student/Alumni Relations efforts for the MIT Alumni Association. She has also worked in development/alumni relations at the Maryland Institute College of Art and Marymount University. She holds a M.Ed. from The University of Georgia and a B.A. from the University of Maryland.
Director of Alumni Relations
Mike Eccles is the Director of Alumni Relations, working primarily with the Schools of Dentistry and Nursing. Mike enjoys meeting the alumni of UCSF, learning about their connections and hearing their stories. After attending Rutgers University, Mike began his career as a Senior Accountant for the Federal Government. Later he moved to San Francisco, to join US Leasing Corp as a Senior Accountant, and then as the Portfolio Manager for the medical contracts group for 5 years. Mike worked for 12 years at Nellcor Inc. as the Director of Alternative Acquisitions before moving to New Jersey- based Copelco Capital as the Director of Operations. He became the Director of Medical Leasing sales and returned to the West Coast, where he provided financial support to doctors, hospitals and medical equipment manufacturers.
Director of Alumni Relations
Angela (Angie) Dalfen is the Director of Alumni Relations for UCSF’s School of Pharmacy and Graduate Division. In this role she is responsible for developing and maintaining service-oriented alumni programming for thousands of alumni, staffing two active volunteer Alumni Association boards, and overseeing school-specific Alumni Weekend events. Angie holds a BA in Philosophy from McGill University and a JD from Northeastern University School of Law. After law school, Angie practiced plaintiff’s-side employment law for several years until she was hired as Assistant Director of Public Interest Programs and then Associate Dean of Admissions at Golden Gate University School of Law.
Faculty Alumni House Manager & Alumni Relations Manager
Louis Gutierrez is the Alumni Relations Manager for our “alumni-like” constituents. He manages both the Emeriti Faculty and Retirees Associations, plus he oversees the alumni weekend program for Physical Therapy. A Southern Californian native from Orange County, and graduate of California State University, Long Beach, Louis’ wide range of experiences includes manager for a Facilities Management Company and Director of Administration for a software startup. Prior to working for UCSF, Louis worked in the baking and pastry department of a San Francisco Michelin-rated restaurant.
Director of Alumni Annual Giving
Rachel is the Director of Alumni Annual Giving for the Schools of Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy, as well as the Graduate Division. She works with alumni and faculty members from across campus who would like to support UCSF as donors. She also oversees multi-channel fundraising programs in support of UCSF’s educational mission. Prior to joining UCSF’s Annual & Special Giving team, Rachel worked in Alumni Relations at UCSF and UC Berkeley. She is a graduate of Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Associate Director of Class Giving
Kristin (Kris) Salkil is the Associate Director of Class Giving, and is responsible for comprehensive reunion and graduating class solicitation strategies across UCSF’s professional schools. Class giving programs include peer-to-peer and class-committee based outreach, direct marketing, and individual solicitations. Prior to joining UCSF’s Annual & Special Giving team, Kris worked in Development at the American Red Cross, UC Berkeley, the Human Rights Campaign, and the Newseum in Washington, DC. She is a graduate of the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA.
