AARP recently named San Francisco the best city in the United States in which to grow older—citing its mild climate, excellent public transportation, walkability, and access to high-quality health care. Now insert the concept of Blue Zones, where clusters of centenarians with shared lifestyle patterns of vitality and resilience have been located in Okinawa (Japan), Sardinia (Italy), Ikaria (Greece), Nicoya (Costa Rica), and Loma Linda, California.
In this program, we’ll explore those findings and discuss practical ways to incorporate Blue Zone principles into our daily lives, especially here in the Bay Area. If you can join us in person, you’ll get to enjoy a Mediterranean-inspired lunch and experience one factor common to all Blue Zones: the power of social connection.
UCSF is committed to making its facilities, activities, and events accessible. To request a reasonable accommodation for this event, please contact [email protected] as soon as possible.
