Join us for a discussion as Julene Johnson, PhD, shares about her current research initiatives at the UCSF Institute for Health & Aging.

Dr. Johnson will first present on the Sound Health Network (SHN). Through a collaboration with National Endowment for the Arts, the National Institutes of Health, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and soprano Renée Fleming, the SHN is on a mission to increase awareness about the impact of music on health and wellness across the lifespan.

She will then talk about two projects funded by the National Institute on Aging: the Music & Dementia Research Network, which aims to accelerate mechanistic studies of music in the context of aging and dementia, and an ongoing research study that is examining if piano improvisation training can help improve cognitive function along with well-being among older adults.
