Sather Tower
Berkeley, CA 94720
United States

12 - 12:45 p.m. (you must arrive at Sather Tower no later than 11:45 a.m.)

Have you ever been moved by the lovely sound of a few bells ringing out from a church tower? Multiply that several times over, and you'll have the sublime music from the 61 bells of the grand carillon in Sather Tower at UC Berkeley. At this outing, we'll see the carillonist play in-person at a noontime concert. Afterwards, he'll answer your questions and give us a brief tour of the tower.

Sather Tower, also known as the Campanile, is one of UC Berkeley’s most beloved and well-known symbols. Visible for miles, the Campanile is the third-tallest bell and clock tower in the world and an integral part of the campus experience. Get a spectacular, sprawling view of the Bay Area from the observation platform.

Special Needs Disclaimer:
There are 38 steps one must climb within the tower to reach the observation platform where the concert occurs. Those who don't wish to or are not able to climb the stairs are welcome to sit on the benches outside under the trees to listen to the music.

Cost is $4 and will be collected upon your arrival.

Optional: For those who want lunch afterwards, the Faculty Club is a short walk from the tower.

Registration deadline is April 15, 2020.
