Laughter Yoga is a complete well-being workout as it combines laughter exercises with yoga breathing techniques (Pranayama), which brings more oxygen to the body and brain, making you feel more energetic and healthy. The phrase “laughter is the best medicine” isn’t too far from the truth in that laughter is contagious and has a powerful and immediate effect on our mind, body, and spirit. We get similar benefits whether it’s spontaneous or simulated laughter; it simply makes you feel better.
This short class involves deep breathing, stretching, clapping, laughter, and simple yoga exercises. Led by Lilly Stamets, UCSF retiree member and certified Laughter Yoga instructor, you are bound to have a giggle or a guffaw during this virtual program.
Space for this class is limited so please register early to reserve a spot!
(Bonus material: When done in person or in virtual groups with eye contact and much playfulness between participants, intentional laughter often turns into real and contagious laughter. To learn more, take a look at the Forbes article, “Six Science-Based Reasons Why Laughter Is The Best Medicine”.)
