The UCSF Retirees Association (UCSFRA) looks forward to seeing you at this outdoors outing!

Stow Lake is a serene oasis of peace, tucked away in Golden Gate Park. Being on this charming man-made lake, rowing or pedaling in a boat, offers an opportunity to see the beauty on and around the lake from a different perspective. View the waterfalls, stone bridges, a Chinese pavilion, and a variety of trees, plants and wildlife including ducks and other birds, turtles, squirrels, and fish.

This leisurely activity takes about an hour or less. If you are energetic, you can get around the lake twice in 80 minutes. Row boats rent for $24/hour, pedal boats rent for $29/hour, and rental costs can be shared between up to three passengers. Boats are rented from the Boathouse Cafe.

Bring lunch to enjoy afterward at the picnic tables by the lake, or pick up locally sourced snacks and lunch items at the Boathouse Cafe.

The lake can also be explored by foot via the walking path encircling the lake. A stone bridge provides access to Strawberry Island and up-close views of the waterfall and the beautiful Chinese Pavilion. UCSF retiree Richard Drake will also be leading a guided tour to talk about the history of the lake and the various wildlife that inhabit the area. Afterwards, we can all meet up by the boathouse for a picnic.

Please register below by Friday, October 1; one guest may be added per registration.

UCSF is committed to making its facilities, activities, and events accessible. To request accommodations for this event, please contact Louis Gutierrez at least one week before the event date.
