UCSF Emeriti and Retired Faculty Award of Excellence
UCSF has a rich history of outstanding and talented individuals who have contributed to the greatness of UCSF, their communities, and the world. The UCSF Emeriti Faculty Association (EFA) would like to recognize emeriti and retired faculty members who have provided extraordinary service to the community and the mission of the university since their retirement.
The award will be presented every year to an emeritus/emerita or retired faculty member who has devoted their retirement efforts to inspiring, mentoring, or educating through:
Distinguished research activities.
Effective advising and mentoring of students or faculty members.
Leadership in education or curriculum innovation within a discipline or in general education.
Leadership related to education or community service.
Effective leadership in professional or public service or policy.
The upcoming award will be presented at a future speaker series program. One emeritus/emerita or retired faculty member will be honored and will receive an award amount of $500 (before taxes).
About the Nomination Process
Nominations should be no more than 500 words in length. All UCSF emeriti and retired faculty members are eligible. Supporting links – such as news articles, online profiles, or quotes – are welcome but not required. Nominators will remain anonymous. Self-nominations are welcome.
The Emeriti Faculty Association Executive Committee will select the winner and will consider diversity in every sense, including school and degree, specialty, background, age, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, and more. The review of nominations will also focus on unpaid service or research since retirement.
