10 a.m.-noon plus optional noon-3 p.m. session
Cost: $5 with limited spots available
Join UCSF retirees for a (two-part) birdwatching trip*!
The morning session runs from 10 a.m.-noon at Richardson Bay Audubon Center and Sanctuary in Tiburon. The center is ground-zero for wintering waterbirds and Pacific herring in San Francisco Bay. We will explore the half-mile hillside path through oak woodlands and a stretch of unspoiled shore with scenic views while taking in the sanctuary’s abundant shorebirds and other wildlife from the adjacent historic Richardson Bay Rail Trail. (Please understand that the site is a haven for wildlife, so pets are not allowed.)
The afternoon session, for those who are interested in continuing the birdwatching walk, will take place at the heron colony on DeSilva Island. We will walk through the marsh and wetlands to see great blue herons, great egrets, and double-crested cormorants on their nests, possibly with chicks.
RSVPs and cancellations accepted no later than Monday, May 15.
