UCSF Alumni Relations and UCSF Archives are thrilled to bring you this virtual event series in which distinguished UCSF alumni authors discuss their recently published books!

“Taking dietary supplements can be good for us – when we need them. But many are unnecessary, and some producers make outsized claims while using suspect means of production.” – Mahtab Jafari, The Truth about Dietary Supplements: An Evidence-Based Guide to a Safe Medicine Cabinet

Join us online as Lisa Kroon, PharmD, resident alum, and chair of the UCSF Department of Clinical Pharmacy, leads a lively discussion with Mahtab Jafari, PharmD ’94, resident alum and president of the UCSF’s Pharmacy Alumni Association (PAA), who will talk about her newly published book, The Truth about Dietary Supplements: An Evidence-Based Guide to a Safe Medicine Cabinet. Dr. Jafari wrote this book to share what she has learned about the dietary supplement industry in 25 years of teaching and researching. We are excited for this opportunity to gain insight into what she discovered and how we can use her work to know the science behind the supplements.

UCSF is committed to making its facilities, activities, and events accessible. To request accommodations for this event, please contact us at least one week before the event date.
