Of the more than 600 films shot in the San Francisco Bay Area since the beginning of talkies in 1927, Golden Gate Park’s many memorable features have been the setting for some 60 movies, ranging from mostly cameo shots to those with more involved scripts.

Join fellow retirees online to hear from historian-in-residence Christopher Pollock as he shares the knowledge he developed over a 25-year period of research and watching films, which culminated in his reference book, Reel San Francisco Stories: An Annotated Filmography of the Bay Area. He will also discuss and show a wide variety of those films that Hollywood Studios chose to use in its productions.
